Volpe would eventually begin to incorporate more original instrumentation into his songs, learning how to play instruments such as the keyboard/synthesizer and hiring session musicians to play on his songs. In an interview with the website, Volpe stated that he likes to use vocal samples because of the natural feeling of the human voice. Volpe's earlier work was known for featuring heavily ethereal vocal samples, such as on the beat for Lil B's "I'm God", which sampled electronic musician and singer Imogen Heap's song "Just for Now", a sample that was not officially cleared until a decade after the song's release.
